Yes, it is and currently I’m sitting here indoors blogging! And in a while I’ll be finishing off some more Christmas cards too! Can you believe it? My husband can’t! Although I’ll find some jobs to do outside in a few hours and enjoy the sunshine. We have a very unseasonal high today of 71F and tomorrow (Sunday) will be a whopping 78F! We already plan to go kayaking tomorrow morning to see the colours out on the lake as the trees are very close to peaking right now, it’s amazing how quick the colour forms, where there was green last week there is now orange, gold and red. It’s quite, quite beautiful and I’m very glad we have a wonderful, sunny fall weekend to enjoy it all as it will fade and the leaves will drop very soon.
So for now, here are a few more Christmas cards for you. I have another three of these on the go in blue and silver colours, hopefully I can show you those tomorrow. I actually started them first but while I was busy stamping and embossing I did the gold ones too and was particularly taken by them, so I put the blue ones to one side and started making these ones up.
It was quite sunny yesterday evening and after I took these photos I sat outside for a while with my knitting enjoying some peaceful “me” time while Andrew made us home made pizza for dinner. The beautiful snowflake stamp is from a clear Inkadinkado set and I just love it, so elegant. I really thought I was stuck in a bit of a whimsical Christmas frame of mind judging from the last two sets and the last Penny Black card I made, but this lot have turned out really elegantly.
This plain, unadorned on is my favourite of the bunch. All the backing paper I used was a free download from Raspberry Road, called Away In A Manger add on, the link for them is on my “Freebies For You” page, it’s well worth checking out if you haven’t seen it yet. This particular paper recounts the visit of the Angel Gabriel to The Shepards to proclaim the birth of Jesus. The other paper used on the other two cards has a repeat of the music and lyrics for Away In A Manger.
I added a little bit of chocolate organza ribbon on them to compliment the little gold pearls. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, a little wood mounted sentiment set I’ve had for years. I stamped it in Memento Gingerbread, but the colour hasn’t come out too well in the photos. The snowflake trail was stamped in Versamark and embossed with gold powder. The gold mirri card blank was another freebie from Crafts Beautiful magazine, my SIL used to work there and she collected lots of freebies for me and gave me a huge box of stuff when I was home in May! I’m really tickled with these ones, I don’t usually do elegant but I think these work really well.
