To go along with the very Funky Ladies of the Jingle Belles challenge, they always manage to come up with something fun and more than a little offbeat too. But that’s OK, I really like offbeat! And that’s why I like the Jingle Belles so much! Their prompt for this fortnight (two weeks to the non British contingent!) is a fabulous sketch from Kirsty Vittetoe called Sketching Through The Snow.
The other challenge I really wanted to enter is over at Simon Says Stamp, where they want to see Spots and/or Stripes and the DT are all showcasing Memory Box products this week too. I was all over that, having become a bona-fide Memory Box groupie myself in the last couple of weeks so I decided to combine the challenges, hence the Funky Christmas card title!
And of course, I always like to see what the lovely folks at ABC Christmas challenge are looking for too. But wait there’s more! List at the end as usual.
I used a non Christmas paper pack from MB called Echo, which is all about purples and greens and went with it from there, not your usual Christmas colours that’s for sure.
So where to start. I used a purple card blank from the stash box, cut me some paper to size and used a Memory Box die along the right hand side, this allowed the purple card blank to show through. The little panel of paper edged in green is from the same MB paper pack, the green was just the perfect shade of Bazzil. The stamp is Inkadinkado, stamped in ColorBox Q Ruby Satin and clear embossed. I can never take a decent photo of something embossed, always looks a bit pock marked to my eyes, like Santa’s got a bad case of acne or something!! I then dabbed some DI Bundled Sage around the edges and backed it with some iridescent purple paper I found in the scrap box. The sentiment is from a The Paper Company Studio clear set and was stamped and embossed the same way. The snowflakes were punched with Martha and EKSuccess punches from the green Bazzill and purple iridescent paper, with a little Lime Green Stickles added to the tips and a button. The ribbon and pearls are both from Michaels.
