This is the second of two cards I made yesterday and it’s at the opposite end of the card making spectrum from the one I posted here yesterday, which was all cute and pink.  This one is much more elegant with a very non traditional colour palette.

One of the challenge blogs had a very interesting challenge which was to use a traditional image with non traditional colours or a non traditional image with traditional colours.  I liked the sound of that, and decided on the traditional image (the Christmas trees) with the non traditional colours of brown, cream and black.  The paper is Recollections Brown Plaid with The Paper Company Cream/Gold Brocade for the main panel, and a scrap of striped paper free from a card making magazine years ago that I stamped the trees on to.  I know the rule of odd numbers but felt three trees would be a bit much! I also put the plaid paper through the Cuttlebug with the snowflake folder, that bit looks better in real life.  The trees and the matching die to cut them out with are Hero Arts, the sentiment is Penny Black, the lace was in the stash and the pearls and gems are Bo Bunny.  I edged the papers with DI Vintage Photo too.
