Hi-de-hi! A quick post from me to show the fruits of my Sunday afternoon labour in the craft room, it’s been quite a while since a card has actually graced this blog I can tell you!
I searched around for a nice sketch to keep things simple and found one at Sketch Saturday.
I looked through my stash for AGES for some appropriate backing paper before I realised that the kraft cardstock was the prefect sandy colour and didn’t need anything extra! I know it’s been a while but sheesh, you think I might have made that connection earlier!
I covered a scrap of white card with Distress Inks and stamped the Kanban seascape scene directly on to it when it had dried, I also added the little birds from the same set. I decided that the moon was out rather than the sun, so tickled it and some of the wave lets with a sparkly silver pen which just isn’t showing up at all. The blue mounting card and the two pieces of sea green DP are also scraps and they were all edged with blue DI. The sentiment is actually a sticker that was on a sheet free with a card magazine and the two little gems are metallic dots from ColorBok, they’re a bit browner IRL.
On the inside I used the rest of the blue scrap card and a little stamp from a set that was free with a UK card magazine
Card Recipe:
- Card: Blank from Michaels ~ GinaK Pure Luxury White ~ The Paper Company
- DP: Scraps from an unknown source
- Stamps: Kanban ~ A free set from a UK card magazine
- Inks: Various Distress Inks ~ Versafine Black
- Embellies: Sentiment sticker ~ Metallic dots from ColorBok

Brenda, you should grace us with your cards more often! You have such a great eye for a cool way to lay out your design, even when you are using a sketch challenge for inspiration. I love the way you laid the “father” word and the font of that and, of course, your subtle coloring of the seaside scene is just perfect to me!
Thank you so much for your support of my NBUS Challenge, both in your kind words and in linking your card in the gallery! Hugs, Darnell
