Well, that was quite a party we had last week, hic! Anyone else still feeling a bit hung over? And fast on the heels of all that fun and games was the WOYWW crop, pictures have been appearing on various blogs this week and I’ve had lots of fun reading everyones accounts of how it all went down. What an amazing thing Julia has started, if you’re not involved (and why ever not?), then head on over to Julia’s for all of the details.
Amazingly I’m NOT working on Christmas cards this week, instead I was trying to put the finishing touches to a Lili of the Valley card using my big box of Wild Orchid flowers which you can see off to the left.
Under the box is a sketch folder, and scattered around the desk are the usual tools of the trade. I opened up the little drawer on the right to find some matching gems for the card on the mat and Spike hopped down from his usual perch on the top of the shelf to get a better look at what was going on. I think he’s attracted to shiny objects personally and will definitely have to keep on eye on him! He hasn’t discovered the box of Stickles yet thankfully!
And a quick snap from Tuesday night when I got in from work. It’s deck season again, so I’m sitting outside in the sunshine doing some knitting.
On show is my new set of Knitpicks circular needles, my first attempt at this kind of knitting needle instead of the straight ones, my cup of tea, my knitting only scissors, my Knitpicks straight needles, a pattern and the first part of something that isn’t a sock! Whaddya mean “what is it?”!! It’s a bag of course! Or at least it will be when I get the rest of it made!! What you’re looking at there is the bottom, the next bit is the handles. Two each at 206 stitches each one, and I only know the long tail method, so I’m about to trawl the internet to learn other ways to cast on that many stitches cause I know I’ll have a few frustrating attempts at casting on.

You’d have loved the crop, we’d have loved to meet you – maybe next time! Lovely to think of you sitting in the sun knitting, though we have finally seen some here too this week! I am loving all the flowers on your desk this week. What a lot you have… Helen, 5

Yay, your desk actually looks quite messy in comparison to its normal OCD state!! LOL Deck all finished now? Get to sit and enjoy it in the sunshine? A knitted bag… won’t it stretch when you fill it up or are you not like me and minimal with what you carry? Happy WOYWW from Annette #8

You WOULD have loved the crop, Helen’s right. Never mind, apparently there will be others. Hangover – man, I’m so hungover that I haven’t finihsed visiting and this week, I can’t seem to see any pictures on non-blogger sites..even blogger was playing up this morning. Just as well I get email feed from your posts! Your pictureless post (to me)is just as well, I just know that the sight of the deck and the knitting will make me a bit green eyed!

OOH..a box of goodies there! How fun! Your card is coming out great! I wish I could knit, but never learned how to do any type of needle work. Maybe one day I can learn! I had a friend make me a baby blanket and it arrived yesterday as my step son is having his first baby in June! I can’t wait! Can’t wait to see your finished piece, the yarn is lovely! Thanks for the heads up about the masculine theme over at SSS!! Thanks for the kind visit! Winnie#79

Hi there B! Looks like Spike is well settled in now – bless. Give him a little cuddle from me!
Guess what, I had a load of crochet hooks arrive here today – now I can knit fine but have nooooooo idea about crochet. Got a couple of ‘larn yersel’ books so there ought to be some fun times ahead 🙂
Casting knitting on – do you use your thumb and one needle? I find that’s the best way, keep the ball of wool to your right and use that for winding round the needle – that way you only need to pull out a few feet of the yarn for the wind round your thumb to poke the needle through part. Bet this makes no sense at all – wanna call by for a cuppa?
Happy WOYWW!
Hugs, Di xx

The crop was great fun…but I was shattered Sunday and Monday! It was worth it though to see everyone having such a great time 🙂
There is a method of casting on with two needles that doesn’t involve guesstimating how much yarn to leave….I suggest YouTube tutorials! Lovely knitting needles though, how colourful are they?

Definitely a clean and tidy space Brenda – I wish I could create like that but I am just TOO messy!! The knitting looks great – love that wool – and the needles look really interesting. Just wondering … does everyone in your family respect your knitting only scissor rule or do you hide them?!! x

A lovely desk there, B! You are going to take years using those amazing flowers, but what a wonderful embellie for your cards, like the – wait for it – adorable card you’re showing! I’m so happy that you finally have deck-sitting weather for your knitting! I love the rich colors of your blossoming bag! Have a great week! xxoo D ~ No No. (I’m just going to spend the week visiting this time, hoping it will help me get around to more desks. We’ll see … .)

Spike is so cute, I’d be cuddling him all day. Wonderful that the sun is out and you can get outside. Those knitting needles are really cool, I’ve only seen plain coloured ones over here. Can’t wait to see how the bag comes out.
Have a great week.

Have to admit I did a double take when I spotted Spike there. Interested to see how the bag turns out. And the circular knitting (which I’ve never attempted).
