What indeed? Not a lot I can tell you! But first I must send you in the direction of Julia, or at least her linky, cause if I’m not mistaken I think she might still be on her hols and probably doesn’t want us lot turning up unannounced!
Here’s my tidy desk..
It might look like plain white paper but it’s actually embossed with TH Sparkly Holographic embossing powder and a load of snowflake stamps. There are some Sizzlets and ProvoCraft dies I’m also thinking of using, and heavens to Betsy! Is that a punch! Didn’t think anyone used them anymore! The desk completely belies the paper crafting frenzy of last weekend when I made eleven more Christmas cards for World Card Making Day! Some of them are in that little pile at the back there.
There is another desk this week.. sick to the back teeth of tripping over my turn table storage thingy every time I moved, I decided to bite the bullet and start decorating the thing. I didn’t want to use it before I’d decorated it as I’d never take everything out and do it once it was in use. So I kept it on the floor, empty, until I had time to do it. I’ve been tripping over it for almost THREE YEARS!! Obviously I’m more of a procrastinator than I thought I was!
So I grabbed the first tin of paint I came across (peach) and set too painting. It’s mostly had one coat here, need to give it at least one more and then I’ll add some nice papers ala Eliza. And that begs a question.. does it need to be sealed with something after I put papers on it? I’m also thinking of maybe using a few rub ons too. Can anyone help?

Gosh you made me laugh so much, I thought there was a new paper called Ala Eliza LOL and then I clicked on the link and bingo it was my page from today. I am honoured thank you so much and no I have not sealed mine, naughty but hey they are where they are, not moved around except on the spot so, unless you really think it is needed then, seal it with Decopage Sealer Royal Coat have a good one.
Also, I use punches still and I love them all.

I like the embossing. I can see it. I have been seeing a lot of embossing lately and thinking it is time for me to take mine out and dust off the cobwebs. They look lovely. I am impressed also with your volume of Christmas cards. I am still working on fall cards but am always peeking at my Christmas stamps that need to be used.
I think I have you beat on the procrastinating thing. I bought some great storage bins over 5 years ago at IKEA and they need paint and I had big plans for them too. Do you know where they are? In the closet still in the package. So I am happy one of us is moving past the procrastinating!
Have a great day!

Your desk looks totally tidy and organised, I love the size of your work mat and the shimmer and sparkle of that embossing powder. You caddy makeover looks great too, I would be inclined to at seal it with a coat of acrylic medium or spray sealant to make it easy to wipe over if needing a dust from time to time and also if it is sealed if you spill anything by mistake it may just wipe off instead of absorbing into the paper and being there permanently. Looking forward to seeing your transformed caddy, have a great week! Danie May #16

Well done you making all those cards for WCMD! I didn’t even get into my craft room, so shameful!
Love your desk organizer, well done getting the paint brush out at last, can’t wait to see it finished. You definitely want to seal it after all that work and it will help hold the rub ons in place too. I would use mod podge but that is just my preference!
have a great week! Debxx

Wow nice pile of cards! Didn’t make any cards on WCD worked on my delft charms tho. Love the “ala Eliza” paper! :):) Must be a new company, hey? Only seal it if you think you’ll be leaving smudgy finger prints. Congrats on #1 today! Happy WOYWW! Nan G #14

I’m quite proud of myself that I could see the embossing even though I’m a bit bleary-eyed this morning! But maybe that is testament to your excellent photography! Those snowflakes are going to look sooo pretty! I have some punches and I use them! As for the sealing I see more learned crafters than I have advised you! That storage looks really fabulous! But falling over it for 3 years! Yeah, that’s procrastination! Have a great WOYWW! Julie Ann xx #38

Hi Brenda
I can’t get over you tripping over your poor desk tidy for 3 years because you had not found the time to decorate it. My desk tidy has been used by me every single time I craft and I couldn’t craft without it.
I look forward to seeing what you do with it please do give us step by step pictures.
Loving your heat embossing
Happy WOYWW and wishing you a great week

I can relate to never decorating / painting something when it’s in use. If it’s in use, it’s in use, so I can’t paint it! Or the need to paint it is less urgent then the need to use the item as storage :P. I’ve tackled a few long laying projects as well, sometimes you just got to start. The most annoying part is picking up again after you had to stop and wait for it to dry…

I use a spray varnish for such jobs..picked up in a general crafts section. It’s going to be lovely…and I think three years is just about the right time span for such things!! Big, innit, it will be fab. Meanwhile love the snowflake embossed paper, that powder really is very pretty.

Morning Brenda . . . 3 YEARS? That must be a record for procrastination! Don’t know much about altering things, but would guess that if you’re sticking papers on, they’ll need some kind of sealant. Varnish? Mod Modge Gel Matte wotsit??? I’m such others WOYWWers will give you some good advice.
BTW: I use punches all the time! Call me old fashioned! Sometimes you just want a quick shape without going to the trouble of die cutting something!

Nice tidy desk there Brenda and you are spurring me on to thinking about painting my carousel too. Not sure I will decorate it (too lazy or busy – take your pick). Would think it needed something over the top of the paper to stop it lifting as it gets used. Hope we see it soon.

OOOh I love that paper with the embossing. I bought a book case nearly 15 years ago and put the books in before painting and yes it still isn’t painted. So you are doing the right thing by finally finishing it before filling it!! Can’t help on the what to do with it as I only paint things, can’t stick things very well. I can’t wait to see it finished.
Have a great week.

I am chuckling as I have a LOVE hate relationship with the Holographic powder, LOVE the look, but gosh, I got it in the mail once, and it came broken, and I was holigraphic and sparkley for days. It went airborne when I opened the envelope. I did buy another one and love it, but hubby stood far back when I opened the package that time. That is a great caddy you are working on. Look forward to seeing it all completed! Enjoy the week! Winnie#76

Hi Brenda,
I could tell there was something sparkly going on with the white papers. You made me laugh with the punch remark – I have several but I haven’t used them in a while. Oh, but I haven’t used much of anything in quite a while! As for the organizer, I would probably seal it with Mod Podge or something similar.
Happy WOYWW
Peace,
Kay (19)
PS Congrats on being number one this week!

Hi Brenda, your desk is looking beautifully tidy but there’s still a lot going on. As for the punch – I still use them. Love them in fact, they are much easier to grab than a die. THREE YEARS! Probably not as bad as you think … I’m sure I have a couple of works in progress that have been around almost as long 😦 Just think how much you are going to appreciate your carousel once it’s done. You could spray a light coating of varnish over the paper to protect it – I use Crafter’s Companions Spray and Shine. Thanks for visiting earlier, and in answer to your question, I’m moving house. After 6 happy years here we are, unfortunately, finding the many steps in our steep garden more difficult due to the arthritis we both have. Shame, but it has to be done. I hope you have a good week and happy WOYWW. Elizabeth x #41

Your desk looks pretty neat! And I still use punches if I can, because they are still easier than doing the sandwich on the die machine and choosing a die! LOL I looks forward to seeing how you decorate your desktop organizer. I have fun just like it, and just left it like I bought it! Maybe you will inspire me to decorate mine!
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Brenda, a bit later in the week getting here than I had hoped. Love your desk, and have to say that I love my punches, and use them most days…I also think we have bits we have picked up and never put to good use, I know I have 3 things, that i was going to have finished by the end of this year and not even started yet…if only there were a few more hours in the day for just US crafters…LOL…looking forward to seeing your finished product…when I seal things I usually just use a watered down PVA Glue, always works and is cheaper then store bought sealers, Hugs Avril#78
