Well after all the excitement of our 3rd anniversary blog hop is out of the way, it’s back to our normal monthly challenges at Sparkles Christmas Challenge. All of the winners have been posted now, hopefully you won a prize, if not, you can always join in with us every month as we prepare for Christmas.
Our theme this month was chosen by my sweet and talented fellow DT member, Sandra of Nana Gramps Blog. She has picked the theme of “More Than Three Embellishments”, so this is where you get to go over the top with the glitter, the charms, the pearls, the ribbon and anything else you want to put on your projects!
And talking of ribbon, we’re sponsored by the wonderful people at Crafty Ribbons who are offering our lucky winner a voucher to spend.
For my card this month I decided to focus on the lovely Penny Black sentiment.
It’s a little difficult to see but I embossed my stamped sentiment with Tim Holtz Holographic embossing powder so it’s really sparkly in real life. I cut it out with a Spellbinders die and mounted it on to green card that I traced the die shape on and cut it out. The lovely poinsettia paper is from a Papermania pack, I edged it with red ink but I can see that I missed the bottom edge! The ribbon was added before the paper was stuck down. I used my Bow Easy to make the bow and threaded the gold snowflake charm through it. For a final touch I added some gold pearls.
I still managed to add five different type of embellishment (embossing powder, ribbon, bow, charm and pearls) to what is still a CAS looking card, proof that you can still keep it simple if you want to.
I hope you’ll have time to join in this month and please pop over to the Sparkles Christmas Challenge blog to see the fab work from my teamies.
