We went for a walk first thing this morning through a stretch of woodland that lies behind our sub-division, a little green oasis in the city.  Only this morning it wasn’t green at all, it was the most amazing shade of yellow and gold and orange and red, yes, there was a little green here and there too.  Unfortunately my camera battery needed charging so I have no photos for you.  We always feel very grateful to have the opportunity to walk in the woods, winter will soon be with us and there won’t be much walking going on then!!

To remember that feeling of gratitude I made this card today that I called Autumn Blessings because it really is a blessing to be able to witness nature in all her glory, and that is so evident at this time of year.  It turned out very bright and sunny this afternoon and I had a hard time taking the photos as there are so many colours on the card, but the white panel really threw off the camera!  I spent ages faffing about and then even more time was wasted in the photo editing programme trying to make the bad images somewhat decent!!

As you can see, I made an easel card.  The main image is a newish (to me) one from House Mouse.  I paired it with paper from Making Memories (yellow spotty) and DCWV (red checked), along with some plain card from The Paper Company, plus lots of leaves and embellishments in Autumn colours.

The centre panel was coloured with pencils and took an absolute age to do!  I highlighted the grasses with Fruit Punch Stickles, sorry about the quality here, couldn’t get a good shot no matter what I did.  You can see I also randomly punched out a border with a Marvy Oak Leaf punch and then backed it with a rust coloured piece of card, adding tiny gems to their centers in appropriate colours.  The ribbons on the left were part of my candy win from Kay at Toodles & Binks, and I added a Prima flower, some leaf cut outs, off cuts from a border punch and some buttons too.

The sentiment panel uses a sentiment from TPC Studio embossed in bronze and cut out with decorative edge scissors.  The rust panel was edged with a Fiskars border punch and then popped up on foam dots to act as the holder for the easel.  Various leaf punches, some buttons and more Prima flowers finish it off.

Right, off outside with a cup of tea as it’s an amazing 71F out there!  Very warm for the time of year but apparently there’ll be thunderstorms later!  Something else I’m grateful for…. warm Autumn days!!
