We’ve had a lovely few days here in SE Michigan, Friday we actually got into double figures temperature wise which is completely unheard of for the time of year. The birds were singing, the sun was shining and we could actually see grass for the first time since November. Of course, we’re now under a winter storm warning today for this afternoon into Monday which is supposed to give us 4″ – 8″ of snow, but it was really nice while it lasted!!
Still, I can make it Spring indoors if i want to! And that’s the theme this week over at Less Is More, the wonderful new challenge blog for all things Clean and Simple. If anything, the number of entrants last week was even greater than their first week, proving it all wasn’t a big fluke and we all didn’t enter just because we know Chrissie and Mandi and wanted to support them!!!
So, my card, clean and simple because a) it has to be so, and b) because I love this style!
The beautiful image is from Hampton Art and was water coloured with pencils, before being mounted on to lilac and purple card, there’s also a little bit of Yellow Stickles in the centre of the three flower heads. The card base was a freebie from a UK magazine and I cut it down to 4 1/2″ square. The ric-rac ribbon is actually more dark purple than blue but it seems to be confusing the camera a bit. The sentiment is from a The Paper Company Studio clear set, and a few purple gems finish off the card without over whelming it.
Card Recipe:
- Card: Freebie from UK magazine ~ The Paper Company
- Stamps: Hampton Art “Violets” ~ TPC Studio “Playful Expressions”
- Ink: Memories Black Dye Ink
- Embellies: Water colour pencils ~ Ribbon and gems from Michaels ~ Yellow Stickles

I just love violets, they have such dainty faces!
Thanks for joining us again Brenda, I so wish we had Michaels in the UK, it seems that all sorts of treasures are to be found there. The sad thing I discovered is that now there is one less than a mile from where we used to live in Virginia!
This is a such a pretty card… maybe Spring is just around the corner!

Brenda – this is a really lovely card – I love that stamp and the way you have coloured it – the petals seem to have texture!!!
I have yet to enter – but I’m going away for a few days tomorrow with the boys and will not be taking any craft but I have a commission for a wedding card – so i really need to do that.
Good luck in the challenge.

I love this card, and especially the violets. In the ‘Language of Flowers’ violets are for Hope. In my previous garden, there were HEAPS of violets under all the shrubs. Every summer they died back and then in the Winter, they returned and I could pick a bunch as big as two fists every week for ages.
