There’s a colour challenge going on over at Less Is More this week that really appealed to me… Neutrals. This is a combo I’ve always loved, especially at the brown end of the range, and is oft under used in my opinion! I also had yet another male 50th birthday card to make, after having made both a male 50th and 60th last week too! Thankfully this is it until whatever the next big milestone might be! So I decided to combine to two as I thought male cards are generally in the neutral band of colours!
I picked up a new Hero Arts large cling stamp for 40% off at Michaels this week and was itching to get it out and ink it up, so I did just that! I stamped it directly on the card blank with Versamark ink and embossed with copper and cream embossing powders. I thought it needed something else, so I took a large stamp block and dabbed DI Black Soot, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo on it, spritzed heavily with water and swirled them around a bit with the end of a thin plastic paint brush. I then took a deep breath and laid my embossed card front on the painty mess and rubbed it in well. And I absolutely LOVE how it came out! The brown card scrap across the middle had already been put through a paper crimper, I found it in the scrap box like that and just cut it to size. The b & w bakers twine was from a winning packet of goodies from the Ribbon Girl recently.
The stamps are all from a Tim Holtz set and were stamped with Black Soot DI on to scraps of Bristol Board, edged with the Black Soot and then matted on to scraps of black card too. The main panel and the large arrow were both popped up with foam dots.
And that’s it. Nice and CAS, just how I like it! Hopefully our friend will like it tomorrow when I give it to him too!
