The lovely peeps at Penny Black Saturday Challenge are looking for Spring themed cards this week with a challenge entitled May Day. I looked through my stamps to decide which one to use, obviously quite a lot of the PB’s would fit the bill, but I haven’t used this cling stamp yet and I hate to admit how long I’ve had it! That’s often the way though, half the time we buy these things to look at, not use lol!! I also really liked the great sketch over at Sketch Saturday this week so decided to use it for this card.
The sweet image is called Hello Dear and I coloured it with Distress Inks, adding a little Stickles to the flowers and Glossy Accents to the water puddle. The papers are all freebies from UK card magazines, the strip across the middle is from a Serif pack, but I don’t know the other two pieces. I matted everything with kraft apart from the main image which was matted with green card from The Paper Company, and I made the card base from kraft card too. The sentiment was also a freebie and is part of a Molly Blooms stamp set. Wooden buttons and twine from Michaels and the gems were in a candy win, I think they’re Kars.
Card Recipe:
- Card: The Paper Company
- DP: Freebies from craft magazine
- Stamps: Penny Black Hello Dear ~ Molly Blooms sentiment
- Ink: Versafine Black ~ Distress Ink Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Frayed Burlap, Peeled Paint, Stormy Sky, Broken China, Rusty Hinge, Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick & Aged Mahogany

Your card is adorably amazing! Another instance of artistry in putting embellies on a card and making them look fantastic and not (like when i do it) a big overembellied cluster!

Cute. I can just imagine that mouse saying Hello Dear. May is the time for putting plants out here so I’ve been told, so it fits May Day perfectly. X

Gorgeous card here Brenda. So perfectly Springy and sweet. What would I give to be able to be in the garden now without rain!
I have a confession to make about Waltons! My car has the same sounding horn on it thanks to my Hubby!! Hee Hee! Not what you expect from a large Volvo!

Hi Brenda, I was sure I had your email addy 😦 Just hopped by again to say that the HM decoupage you asked about is all snipped out by hand 😦 For some reason though, some packs (2×10 images in each so I always give half to a friend) are much more intricate and have more layers than others – although they don’t say so on the packet. So, the Gingerbread House was really, really testing – the little Carol Singers, from a different pack was much less so. Weird 😦 Di xx
