I was browsing around one day last week and came across a fantastic use of scraps of patterned paper, naturally now I want to link it to give credit here, I can’t find it!! But it really inspired me to have a go at the two cards you see below, and I really love how they came out too.
Very simply, you take strips of complimentary papers and tear them, then line them up and stick them together so they overlap a little bit. You then stamp some images using first and second generation stamping, and when you’re happy with that just tear the top and bottom so the whole panel is the size you want, edge with some ink and mount on some card. And Bob’s your Uncle as they say. Simples, really!
I did one in more feminine tomes and added a sentiment (Penny Black), and a second in brighter colours.
The sentiment on this one is on the inside, not sure which I prefer, perhaps they’re both as good. This is a superb way of using up lots of scraps of paper and having fun with inks and stamps again, as opposed to always colouring in images and adding lots of embellishments. They’re actually both in the post now, heading off to their respective recipients, so I think I’ll have to make a few more!!
